The LP Anarchist Caucus’s “5 key points of libertarianism”

As Roderick Long notes, An LP Anarchist Caucus has just formed. Its “5 key points of libertarianism”:

1. The right of day care owners to install crack cocaine vending machines.

2. The right of all sovereign individuals to the ownership of nuclear weapons.

3. The right of all individuals to secede from the oppression of fiat authority such as governments and parents.

4. Principled opposition to any and all forms of non-consensual slavery, such as taxation. Consensual slavery between sovereign individuals is perfectly enjoyable.

5. F*ck the government!

I’m sure they’ll flourish.

Actually I’ve been very happy with the response so far. We’ve got over 20 members in under 24 hours, which is pretty good for an internal LP caucus like this.

I also see you re-posted only the humorous part of the IPR post without any of the serious stuff. I think that’s unfortunate, as both are equally valuable. Being humorless makes us a bunch of dullards with no real appeal, but being without substance is pointless from the start. The LPAC has both substance and good humor.

Anyone interested in joining the LPAC should check out our yahoo group and facebook group, http://groups.yahoo.com/group/lpanarchists/ and http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=100056209203 respectively.

mdh, not sure why you think it’s unfortunate, as I linked to the whole thing–see, that’s sort of the beauty of “the internet”. But I’ll be happy to take the unfortunate post down if you don’t want the PR. Just say the word.

I never said anything like that, I just wanted to add some commentary here stating that we’re also serious about moving back towards being a big tent LP in addition to having fun. 🙂

The main goal is just that – to move back to a state-neutral platform and a big-tent Libertarian Party which welcomes anarchists. I’ve found that anarchists can be some of the best activists we’ve got, and to lose the anarchist crowd – even though it is a minority overall – loses us a lot of good activists. Look at the former activism of some who’ve gone down the Brad Spangler path of abandoning the LP and/or electoral politics in general and you’ll see what I mean. A few of those people were also formerly very reliable donors to various Libertarian organizations including state parties and national. At least one such reliable big donor springs to mind.

The LP is nowhere near a place where it can systematically estrange some of its best activists and donors – nor should it ever consider such action.
