Chartier’s Conscience of an Anarchist

In Early Draft: The Conscience of an Anarchist, Brad Spangler writes:

I’m absolutely giddy right now from what I’ve read so far of a very early draft of Gary Chartier’s forthcoming book “The Conscience of an Anarchist”.

This is the sort of book that could electrify a generation. You know about all of those enthusiastic young Ron Paul supporters? I suspect more than a few will be carrying “The Conscience of an Anarchist” in their pockets as their political bible within the next couple of years.

Spangler is perhaps a bit too optimistic, but I am reading the draft now–it’s good. Certainly it will be the best of the crop of political “conscience” books–Barry Goldwater’s The Conscience of a Conservative, the execrable Paul Krugman’s doubly-mistitled The Conscience of a Liberal, Zell Miller’s A National Party No More: The Conscience of a Conservative Democrat, and moron fake-libertarian Wayne Allyn Root’s also doubly-mistitled The Conscience of a Libertarian: Empowering the Citizen Revolution with God, Guns, Gambling & Tax Cuts (I suspect Goldwater’s is more libertarian than Root’s, though I’ve read neither).

Chartier discusses his forthcoming book in this interview.

Update: see also Jeff Flake’s Conscience of a Conservative: A Rejection of Destructive Politics and a Return to Principle.
